In 1991 Alistair Cooke & his close friend Dave Beer had a plan, the house music scene within Yorkshire needed a boost. So these Two like minded friends formed Back to Basics in a small club in Leeds.

 

On the 23rd November 1991, the Music Factory in Leeds kick started the Back to Basics adventure.

 

Within months of Back to Basics opening, news spread of Back to Basics and every week Back to Basics
was packed to capacity. With this influx of people wanting to come to the club [ they were turning away More than a thousand people every weekend - big by any promoters standards ] Back to Basics started to create attention not just from all over England, but from all over the globe people wanted the experience the vibes & antics at Back to Basics.

 

 

No one expected this "explosion" of the club to happen, especially Dave & Alistair. When they formed Back to Basics, They started the club as a hang out for their friends, who were tired of traveling to clubs all over the UK, just for a good night out.

 

 

As everything was going well for Back to Basics, on the 12th March 1993, A car accident injures Dave Beer, but the crash tragically took the life's of Alistair Cooke and Ralph Lawson's girlfriend Jocelyn Higgins.

 

 

This sort of tragic blow would have knocked anyone for six, but with help from the Northern House Music Fraternity, Dave Beer Carried on with Back to Basics and through hard work, Back to Basics is now a name synonymous in the house scene.
