June - National: Jolly Roger Britian's flagship broadcaster in the United Kingdom the BBC - reacts very swifty to adverse criticism and axes Jolly Roger's "Acid Man" from their music show "Top Of The Pops".
The would-be acid house anthem, written and arranged by Eddie Richards, hits the wrong notes with the top brass at Broadcasting House, when discovered that the chart topping hit has alledged connotations to the 60's hippie drug, L.S.D.
Whilst been interviewed, head of radio one music Roger Lewis acknowledges that acid house is a new type of music and he will allow it to be played on the airwaves. But he also reiterated that any record or video that has any references, promotes or supports the misuse of drugs in any way will be banned.

July 13th - Manchester: Hot The north-west of England is the chosen area, Greater Manchester is the county, "Madchester" is the city, the Haçienda is the venue and acid house finally comes home to the northern masses.
Fronted by Paul Cons [ part of the Haçienda's management team ] and residents Mike Pickering and Jon DaSilva, the "Haç" are not total strangers to the overnight sensation as they have been holding Nude which champions acid house - beating many of it's southern cousins in the process. "Hot at the haç" however will mark a change as it will be a clubnight solely dedicated to acid house.
Purposely giving their parties that special ibizan feel, vibe, atmosphere and appeal, Paul and his staff quickly go about to install all the elements that would fall in line with the "Hot" vision and concept [ palm trees, ice poles and water, trunks, shorts and costumes plus a fully-flown swimming pool in the middle of the dance floor ] in the heart of post-industrial Manchester.
