December 5th – National: World In Action
Pay party organisers, clubbers and the general public where in for a shock as an investigative team from the UK's top current affairs programme, Granada TV's "World In Action" delved deep into the pay party scene to present "A Trip Round Acid House" - their one-hour exposé into:
With the now customary over-the-top and out-of-touch narration, a group of researchers followed a likely group of clubbers around during there typical weekends in a manic and desperate search of the acid house movement, described by the programme as:
Very informative throughout, researchers spoke to DJ's, artists and a number of leading figures within the scene to try and explain this new musical phenomenon that's sweeping the United Kingdom. Also trying to keep their programme relevant and unbiased, programme researchers also spoke to experts of the craze in the media and the authorities to get their views on the sudden emergence of this new music.
December 9th to 12th – Amsterdam: Freedam
Forward thinking as ever and just as everyone was thinking about the festive period, Extatic took a group of clubbers on the road to present the next episode in their travel party series "Trance II" in the smokers paradise of Amsterdam in the Netherlands.
As with their last party the popular Trance in Amsterdam just a few months previously, for a hundred-and-thirty-five quid Extatic took another group of clubbers on the trip of a lifetime on a specially chartered private jet. If that wasn't enough for this intrepid group, there was also three days of other distractions and hard partying with some of London's top DJ's to contend with as well!.
December 10th - London: Genesis
Genesis, an new organisation from the east-side of town - fronted by Wayne Anthony, Keith Brooks and Andrew Pritchard [ a.k.a "K.P." ] start from scratch with an newly acquired warehouse near Aldgate East tube station in east London.
December 17th - London: Karma Promotions
With some experience organising gatecrasher balls for the privileged and caught up with the heady times, three like-minded friends of Sunrise's Tony Colston-Hayter decided it's time to have a flutter on London's pay party scene.
The organising trio, Anton Le Pirate, Jeremy Taylor and Quintin Chambers name their organisation "Karma Promotions" and attempted to host their debut party "In Search Of Space" somewhere in London. Ironically, bad karma strikes forcing the trio to scrap their first gathering.
December 21st - Manchester: Hot
Just as fast as it was conceived and created, wednesdays nights at the Haçienda in Manchester, Greater Manchester will now be barren and sombre affairs as they used to be. Promoter Paul Cons and his motley crew from "Hot" calls time on the northern scene and bows out on a high.
