August 16th - Swindon: Ektos
After hosting more than thirty parties since late last year, the promoters from Ektos decide that now is the time to give the west country their first major offering. Due to be held at Uffcott Farm, just outside of Swindon in Wiltshire, "The Next Generation" will be the first legal outdoor party in the county.
Despite the expected traffic problems through Uffcott village during the day, newspaper reports after the event said that there was no trouble or arrests were made!. Who fancies another rave?...
August 22nd to 4th September - Camelford: White Goddess Free Festival
Spiral Tribe - now with MC Scallywag and DJ Aztek, Circus Normal, Circus Warp & DiY do the right thing and party hard on Bodmin Moor for nearly two weeks!.
Spiral Tribe and Circus Normal combine their soundsystems together to make a huge 25k soundsystem, which receives complaints from non-ravers over fourteen miles away!. The following week, the travelling soundsystems move their vehicles to the Stoney Cross travellers site.
The ploy angers a section of travellers within their community as they was a violent confrontation between them [ the travellers ] and the Police at the site a few years back.
August 23rd - Barrow: Nemesis
Promoters Nemesis - who have been hosting events around Leicester for the last year, have created a record by been the first promoter to hold a rave in one of the most ususal places ever. Nemesis take their travelling army from all over the Midlands to Cumbria in North-West England to host "Land Of Reality" at Roosecote Sand Quarry near Barrow-in-Furness.
There is a little bit of concern as this event isn't actually a "Nemesis-Leicester" event as Micky Lynas and Amnesia House are the force behind the promotions and backing for this event. Amnesia House are using the Nemesis name which has been carefully nurtured by Dj SS et al. at Sneakers records in Leicester.
The rave itself was a busy night for all those involved but beneath the surface some problems arose. Greedy stall holders made the guests pay over-the-top prices for food, drinks and cigarettes. Also, there were power-outages during the night and the soundsystem had to be turned down on several occassions, but that minor inconvience was courtesy of the local Environmental Heath Officer!.
August 23rd - Thetford: The Eclipse
With nearly a year of hard raving in the Midlands under their belts, The Eclipse also catch the warehouse bug and move their operation for one night to hold their first rave outside Coventry.
A T2 hangar [ World War II temporary aircraft hangar ] at Knettishall Airfield in Thetford, Suffolk is the unlikely suspect with guest performances from Carl Cox, Fabio, Joey Beltram, Top Buzz, Micky Finn and Laurent Garnier.
Despite the unfounded rumours that the event hasn't been confirmed and therefore wouldn't be taking place... Thousands of happy ravers came to Thetford, hopefully proving those doubters wrong. The Eclipse has come of age and shown the public that they can fill any venue.
August 23rd - Birmingham: Dance Planet
The summertime vibe in the midlands is getting hotter as a new promoter hits town.
Dance Planet invades brimingham with their first event at a desirable but untried venue - The 2,500 capacity Aston Villa Sports and Leisure Centre in Birmingham.
