July 23rd - Manchester: The Haçienda

The damming results of "Operation Clubwatch" and the untimely death of Clare Leighton at their venue last summer still isn't enough evidence to sway high court judges as Greater Manchester Police just fall short in their attempt to revoke the entertainments license of the now notorious Haçienda venue in Manchester, Greater Manchester.

After a lengthy and stormy license hearing, management and staff at the venue breathes a collective sigh of relief as the Haçienda receives a six-month reprive and their club fights another day, but other close sources have stated that the city centre venue has already lost a majority of it's atmosphere, charm and appeal due to outside influences.

Local gangs from the neighbouring Salford, Cheetham Hill and Moss Side residential districts are bringing their daily turf battles for Manchester's narcotics trade into the lucrative city centre clubs which leads to problems inside their venue. The lively and enthralling "Madchester" scene that most mancunians have grown to cherish is slowly dying and gradually ebbing away from them as their treasured city is becoming blighted and more popularly known as "Gunchester".

August

August - Longton: Delight

This August, the weekends are fully booked-up in the potteries as another non-local party organisation launches their creation - "Delight" at Shelley's Laserdrome in Stoke-on-Trent, Staffordshire.

The first few weeks of Delight's new residency in a foriegn county turns out to be very positive for the promotional team from Manchester... But their tenure really picks up when they intstall a new resident, an relatively experienced northern circuit DJ called Sasha.

In the following weeks... Alexander Coe, a former telesales operator of welsh descent will give his new open-minded audience something they hadn't heard before. The normally dull fridays nights at Shelley's are suddenly elevated by Sahsa's unique blend of Italian house anthems, accapellas and DJ skills honed at Manchester's Hacienda and the long-running Blackburn parties.

August 10th - Coventry: Different Wavelength?

One of the highest officials in the West Midlands police force misreads the growing issue, digs his head in the sand, guesses the answer and get's it badly wrong. When questioned about his views on the ever-popular party scene and it's immediate future, Mick Bromwich, the Superintendent of Little Park Street station in Coventry, west Midlands stated:

August 10th & 11th - London: Dancedaze

The Academy in Brixton, south London spotlighted the blossoming house scene in the United Kingdom when the "Dancedaze" parties attempted to blow the roof of their venue with dance music. Staggered over two days, Dancedaze featured a host of top DJ's and live performances by 808 State and MC Tunes, Guru Josh, Adamski, S'Express, Candy Flip and Betty Boo.

A few weeks after the seminal party, television station Channel Four produced their findings from the party with the Dancedaze series. Broadcasted like the parties over four weekends, Dancedaze featured a majority of the acts who perfomed plus a whole host of bonus acts like MC Duke, Shut Up And Dance, Sindecut, Subsonic II and Cash Crew plus many more.

Now seen as a worthwhile celebration of party culture, the Dancedaze series gained an immediate cult following making it become essential viewing for a generation who have been starved of rave orientated material on terrestial television.
