July 6th - Stretham: Eclipse

Groove II have their work cut out, the local council give them the green light to hold their first big party outside of their home base in central Cambridge. Brothers Stuart and David Banks go back to visit their oldskool ways to present the "Dance Festival Tour '91", Eclipse's first legal outdoor party.

Instead of prising open a derelict warehouse, the brothers will enlist the help of a farmers field and a super-tent near the village of Stretham, Cambridgeshire. Months of merticious planning, preparation and sheer hard graft all comes together when thousands of clubbers from all over the east of England come out to rave and dance the night away.

July 12th - Birmingham: Starlight

Following on from their party in May this year, one of Birmingham's leading promoters "Starlight" hosts "Eternity" at Handsworth Leisure Centre in Birmingham, west Midlands.

Starlight gather pace on a promising start to the year by booking Bryan Gee, Simon Baseline Smith, Jumping Jack Frost and Micky Finn to be the nights entertainment. However, the main highlight of the night was reserved for the live P.A. by The Prodigy.

July 13th - Derby: Nemesis

Leicester's favourite promoter Nemesis secure a major coup by hosting "The Hardcore Concept" at

the six-thousand capacity Donington Exhibition Centre near Derby, Derbyshire. Nemesis become the first rave organisation to use the venue that all of the top promoters in the Midlands have been trying to secure the services of.

July - Farnworth: The Pleasuredrome

Already a household name on the pro circuit up north, Paul Welding [ a.k.a. DJ Welly ] takes up a new residency with "Red Zone" at the Pleasuredrome in Farnworth, Lancashshire.

Within a couple of weeks, DJ Welly will transform the traditional "run-of-the-mill" nightclub into one of the hidden gems in the north with thousands dancing inside, and many more been left outside in the cold. Such is the nightclub's success after a couple of months into Red Zone's existience, the club is paid a visit by Waterman and Strachan from Granada television's Hitman and Her.

July - Bootle: Quadrant Park

The carefree nights of freedom and hedonism in the merseyside town of Bootle are over. After the rapid demises of The Underground and The State roughly six months ago, John Spencer's Quadrant Park venue has taken over the mantle as the best nightclub in the Liverppol area.

Seeing that there are the biggest players in the area, Quadrant Park's management will take advantage of their "win-win" situation to the point of overcharging their punters for all-night raves. The Quad's total dominance and their mis-reading of Liverpool's party scene leads to a new batch of cheaper competitors who are charging less than half of Quadrant Park for roughly the same amount of time and DJ's.

Liverpool's punters have been voting with their feet ever since and the attendance figures at the Quad have been shrinking due the re-opening The Underground and the launch of the o-five-one club in the city centre. Coupled with a raft of bad press through the local media, narcotic issues inside the venue and the discrepancys with the entertainments license, Merseyside Police and Sefton Council finally have their wishes granted and close down the all-nighters at Quadrant Park in Bootle, Merseyside.
